Old Enough To Vote? Better Get Registered

If you have or will turn 18 on or before Feb. 29, you are eligible to vote in Washington’s first round of elections that ultimately will help determine the next president.

Idaho teens who will be 18 on or before May 23 will be eligible to cast a ballot in the Idaho primaries.

But first you must register to vote. Jan. 29 is the deadline to register in Washington.

You can register with any registrar. You probably can find one at your school or any government office. You also may register by mail, and you may request a mail-in registration form online at: www.secstate.wa.gov/ voting/register.html.

Idaho requires registration forms be postmarked at least 25 days before election day. Or, you may register at the polls in Idaho, but will be required to provide proof of residence and photo ID. For more information about Idaho’s registration process, go to: www.idsos.state.id.us/elect/voterreg/vtr-htm.
