New Park Gets Ok
Residents in the Indian Trail neighborhood voted to support the development of a park in North Spokane County.
The vote passed unanimously at an Indian Trail Neighborhood Council meeting Monday night.
The proposed land is located in a woodland area east of Indian Trail Road and further north of the powerlines on the edge of the county.
“This has the potential for north Spokane to have what they have in the south with Manito Park,” said Edmund Lewis, who made the motion for the vote.
The land is in the county but it would be available to city residents. Therefore, the neighborhood council is exploring options for joint financial support from the city and county, Lewis said.
The county already owns 160 acres of the undeveloped land. Neighbors are hoping to have the other 160 acres acquired for a community park.
