Highlanders Make It 7 Straight

Sophomore Brett Weisner hit 6 of 8 3-pointers and poured in a career-high 22 points to spark Shadle Park to a 60-53 win over East Valley at Linda Sheridan Gymnasium Friday night.

The Highlanders won their seventh straight to remain in third place in the Greater Spokane League basketball race.

The Highlanders hit 12 of 27 3-pointers, including three makes by Kevin Johnson. The 3-point success helped overcome a lean night at the foul line, where the Highlanders hit 4 of 6.

Shadle Park held Andrew Burgess, who came in averaging 20 points a game, to 11. Jason Paul had three of EV’s seven 3-pointers and scored 19 points.

East Valley was just 12 of 22 from the foul line.

Gonzaga Prep 64, North Central 49

Joey Nickol scored a career-high 16 points and the fifth-ranked Bullpups rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the visiting Indians.

Prep hit 13 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away after trailing throughout the game. The Bullpups caught NC with 5 minutes to go. Nickols had nine points in the fourth quarter, including two three-point plays.

Andy Bloom added 15 points.

Jake Martyn had 16 points for NC, hitting four 3s. David Smith scored 15.

Jonathan Hook scored 13 points and limited Matt Tabisz to six points as the Tigers handed the visiting Wildcats their fifth straight loss.

Tabisz had just one field goal after scoring 36 points on Tuesday night.

Erin Coleman had eight rebounds and Erik Coleman had four rebounds and four steals for LC.

Kyle Boast and Cameron Walls combined for 38 points as the Bears pulled away from the visiting Panthers in the second half.

Boast had three of CV’s seven 3-pointers and the Bears hit 17 of 20 free throws.

Chris Fischer had 18 points for Mead, which did not have a 3-pointer.
