Christians have rights
I was under the impression that our country was founded on the basis that we all have certain individual rights.
I guess that doesn’t include Christians.
I find it interesting that if you are for gay rights, a feminist or any other minority and speak your mind you are only asserting your civil rights and are applauded for enduring persecution. However, if you are a Christian you are being unloving, unforgiving and intolerant.
Again Lissa Humphreys (Guest column, Jan. 27 Valley Voice) brings up the issue of separation of church and state, which was written to prevent the government from establishing a state church, one that would be over any other, as the Church of England was.
It was not meant to keep God out of our schools.
We all know that our schools are full of private interests and personal agendas and that the religion of secular humanism is incorporated into all subjects.
Sandy Brewer (Guest column, Jan. 20 Valley Voice) was only saying publicly what many others were saying privately.
We dare not go public because we will be labeled as hypocrites. Where does the hypocrisy lie? At a time when we are teaching our children about diversity and the importance of accepting all people and all beliefs, we turn around and tell them, “Christians are to be seen and not heard!” Judy Lambert Spokane
