Ms Fund-Raiser Coming To Schweitzer

The Jimmy Heuga’s Snow Express for MS is coming to Schweitzer Mountain on Feb. 5 to raise money for people with multiple sclerosis.

The event is part of a series of skiing and snowboarding events at 28 resorts that annually raise money for MS.

This is the 15th year of the fund-raiser. Skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers all can participate through events such as the Vertical Challenge and a Dual Giant Slalom.

The minimum entry fee for each team is $1,000 - but pledges will be accepted if teams are short the amount on the day of the event. Teams raise funds, and the more money collected, the better the chance of winning. Winners are determined by a combination of funds raised, distance calculated in vertical feet and the combined team time in the dual giant slalom.

Pre-registration will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at Alpine Motors in Sandpoint. Registration the day of the event begins at 7 a.m. in Taps at the Day Lodge. Participation includes breakfast, lunch and a banquet.

For more information, call event director Joe Madsen at (509) 325-5436.
