The Los Angeles Lakers came in with the best record in the NBA, but left Houston feeling embarrassed.

Cuttino Mobley hit a crushing 3-pointer with 19 seconds left, and Kelvin Cato led a late fourth-quarter charge that included blocking a shot by Shaquille O’Neal as the Houston Rockets beat the Lakers 89-83 Sunday.

In other NBA news, Michael Jordan’s plan to hire Rod Higgins as coach of the Washington Wizards was blocked by Higgins’ employer, the Golden State Warriors.
