Andrew Padden Earns Eagle Scout Award

Andrew Padden of Boy Scout Troop 468, has earned his Eagle Scout Award.

To earn this award, Padden had to earn 21 merit badges, serve as leader of his troop and complete a major community service project.

His service project consisted of installing a six-section steel railing running along the entire west side of Mary Queen Roman Catholic Church, between the parish hall and the parking lot.

Padden, son of Mike and Laura Padden, Spokane, is a graduate of Our Lady of the Rosary Academy.

Tiffany Carpenter, Newport, Wash., has been named a United States National Award Winner in English by the United States Achievement Academy and her name will appear in the Academy’s Official Yearbook.

Carpenter is the daughter of Steve and Renee Carpenter, Newport, and a student at Newport High School. She was nominated for the award by an English teacher at the high school.

The following students from St. Aloysius School, Spokane, received awards at AAA’s 56th annual National School Traffic Safety Poster Program:

Son Ca Vu, a sixth-grade student at the school, was honored for her “Curb the Urge to Dash Across” poster. She received a plaque and a $100 U.S. Savings Bond for her creation.

Jessica Hall, Danielle Jolicoeur, Alecia Tucker Jaclyn Duenas, David Black, Matthew Skok, Adrianne Sutphin, Shannon Kestell, Nicole Johns and Leslie Whigham all received Awards of Merit.

Holly Greenfield, a graduate of Post Falls High School, was awarded a $500 Ken Kohli Memorial Scholarship. She will begin classes at the University of Idaho in the fall.
