Ewu Appoints Two New Deans

Eastern Washington University has appointed two new deans.

Fritz J. Erickson has been named dean of the College of Education and Human Development, and Philip Castille has been appointed dean of the College of Arts and Letters.

Erickson has been chairman and professor of education and psychology at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich., since 1997. He also served as a faculty member at Millersville University of Pennsylvania from 1986-1997.

Castille has been an English professor at Louisiana Tech University since 1994. He was director of the School of Literature and Language there from 1995-1999. He also worked as an English professor at the University of Houston from 1981-1994.

Castille will begin at Eastern on July 15, while Erickson will assume his new post Aug. 1.

Eastern’s Board of Trustees finalized the appointments Monday.
