Unity Church Pastor Had A ‘Call’ To Work

Hazele Rowell to start a new Unity church. Church members met in the Fort Sherman Chapel until moving to their new location in 1997.

Spiritual leader: Rev. Marilyn Muehlbach Background: Muehlbach, 56, has served at the United Church for 15 years. She received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Denison University in 1965 and graduated from the Unity School of Christianity ministerial education program in 1985.
She has served as a Hospice chaplain for the past six years, and for the past four years has also been a member of the Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations. Reason for becoming a pastor: “There was definitely `a call.’ Helping people find a connection to God strong enough to carry them through life’s challenges and deep enough to encourage them to make a difference in the world became an urgent priority for me.”
Favorite part of the job: “Being a part of people’s lives during significant turning points and `having history’ with the families - weddings, christenings, funerals; creative opportunities - creating services that transform lives.”
The Bible’s most important message: “The kingdom of God isn’t over here or over there. The kingdom of God is within you.”
