Apparent Meth Lab Found, Police Say

From Staff

Spokane police discovered evidence of a methamphetamine lab and counterfeit check operation Saturday while investigating an alleged assault at 3117 E. Liberty Ave., police said.

Officers were called to the house Friday evening after a boy reported his arm was cut when his mother’s boyfriend threw a large speaker through a glass door. The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police questioned the boy’s mother, Betty A. Urann, 40, and she was arrested on an outstanding warrant, according to Spokane Police Department spokesman Dick Cottam.

Based on information they gathered there, officers received a search warrant early Saturday for the house.

Investigators found evidence of a counterfeit check operation inside and uncovered cocaine in a bedroom, police said. An apparent methamphetamine lab was discovered in the shed behind the house, Cottam said.
