Korean Dance Troupe Plans Performances

From Staff

The Hasadim Mission Ballet Company of South Korea is making an encore visit to Spokane, with a series of free performances that begin today.

The 10 classically trained dancers will perform at six local churches and Whitworth College during their nearly two-week visit in Spokane.

The dancers are part of the Park Kung Sook Ballet Company, a large Korean ballet school.

Today’s performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar St.

The dance troupe performed last summer for the first time in Spokane. One of its members, Jin Young Lee, had been attending Gonzaga University, where she recently completed an intensive English-language program.

“This is their encore performance,” said Jeff Barker, former English pastor of Korean Presbyterian Church, who has organized both of the company’s visits.

The women, who blend dance and worship, will perform to a variety of Christian music.

Other performances are scheduled for:

7 p.m. Tuesday at Fourth Memorial Church, 2000 N. Standard St.

8:45 p.m. Wednesday at Cowles Auditorium, Whitworth College.

7 p.m. Friday at Knox Presbyterian Church, 806 W. Knox Ave.

7 p.m. Saturday at Korean Presbyterian Church, 1727 E. Pacific Ave.

9:30 a.m. Sunday at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road.

6 p.m. Sunday, Fairchild Air Force Base Chapel.
