Irene Mebius Millwood
Service for Irene Mebius, 80, will be at 10 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will be at the Pine City (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mrs. Mebius, who was born in Pine City, died Wednesday.
She graduated from high school in Pine City in 1937 and married John Mebius in 1946.
She was a 10-year Spokane resident and was a homemaker.
Her husband preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister, Violet Wolff of Spokane.
Kate Katterle Pullman
No service will be held for Kate C. Katterle, 92, at her request. Private graveside service will be at a later date at Pullman City Cemetery. Kimble Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Katterle, who died Wednesday, was born in Potlatch, Idaho.
She graduated in 1926 from Lewis and Clark High School and in 1930 from Washington State University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
After graduation she taught speech at WSU. She married Zeno Katterle in 1931.
Starting in 1969 she traveled for 15 years and was well known for the informative travel programs she presented to many area groups.
Mrs. Katterle was a member of the WSU Women’s Faculty Club and the Pullman Historical Society and was past president of Chapter S of the PEO, which she had also served twice as a delegate to the national meeting.
Her husband died in 1969.
Survivors include a son, Zeno Katterle Jr. of Aloha, Ore.; a daughter, Eleanor Davidson of Florence, Ore.; a brother, Carl Fulton of Pebble Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Barbara Domer Hayden Lake, Idaho
Memorial service for Barbara A. Domer, 69, was Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hayden. Service will be held at a later date in Marion, Iowa. Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Domer, who was born in Springville, Iowa, died Thursday.
She graduated from high school in Springville and in 1947 moved to Denver. She graduated from the University of Denver School of Nursing and began a career as a registered nurse. She worked for the Public Health Service, the Department of Veterans Affairs and several hospitals and nursing homes.
She lived in Salt Lake City before settling in Hayden Lake in 1986. She had worked for Western Medical Service in the Spokane area.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Murry of New Mexico and Richard Murry of Ithaca, N.Y.; two daughters, Catherine Murry of New Mexico and Merilee Berry of Utah; a brother, George Domer of Iowa; four sisters, Faye Neal and Edith Weller, both of Iowa, Donna Wraspir of Minnesota, and Zona Stripe of Texas; and three grandchildren.
Donald Barton Spokane
No service will be held for Donald L. Barton, 62, at his request. The Neptune Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Barton, who died Tuesday, was a lifetime Spokane resident.
He graduated in 1956 from Lewis and Clark High School and served in the Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Barton was a journeyman molder in metal foundries for 26 years and was a member of the Molders and Foundry Workers Union.
Survivors include three sons, Craig Barton of Seattle, and Mathew and Donald Barton, both of Spokane; four daughters, Tina Marsh Barton, Brenda Himelspach, Kandy Forester and Patricia LaCaze, all of Spokane; his stepfather, Bill Rosencrans of Spokane; a sister, Betty Eliasen of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Phyllis Nelson Coeur d’Alene
Service for Phyllis Grace Nelson, 73, will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Pius Roman Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Nelson, who was born in Priest River, Idaho, died Wednesday.
She lived in Spokane and graduated with honors from Marycliff High School and Holy Names College. She later taught at Regal School in Spokane and in the Coeur d’Alene School District and at North Idaho College.
She married John Nelson in 1953. He died in 1989.
As a youth, she won many awards for roller skating with her twin sister.
Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker and a member of St. Pius Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, Alan and Dale Nelson, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Eric Nelson of Boise; a daughter, Linda Allen of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Jean Esser of Bellevue, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
Harwood Tibbits Sr. Spokane
No service will be held for Harwood J. Tibbits Sr., 94, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Tibbits, who was born in Tacoma, died last Monday.
He graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma and attended the University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington.
During World War II he served as an auxiliary policeman for the Spokane Police Department, and he had served as president of the Spokane Municipal League.
He was a 60-year Spokane resident and was a traveling furniture salesman for 15 years. From 1941 to 1970 he worked as a life insurance agent.
In 1974 he opened Ye Old Bottle Shop in Spokane, which he ran until he was 90.
His wife, Jeannette, died in 1999.
Survivors include a son, Harwood Tibbits Jr. of Spokane; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
