Flooring Sales Group Buys 18 Stores
A newly formed company, Flooring Sales Group, has purchased 18 stores for an undisclosed sum from a bankrupt Georgia company.
The assets include seven Carpet Center stores in Eastern Washington and Idaho and 11 Carpet Exchange stores in the Puget Sound region. The stores were previously owned by Maxim Retail Stores/Flooring America of Atlanta, which declared bankruptcy in June.
The acquisition makes Flooring Sales Group the largest independent floor covering dealer on the West Coast, company officials said. The stores employ 300 people and had sales of $55 million last year.
All stores will continue to operate, said CEO Doug Chadderdon. Carpet Center has two stores in Spokane and one in Coeur d’Alene.
