New faces:

World Wide Packets has named Nancy Goodspeed manager of public relations. Goodspeed, who is a former anchor and reporter for KHQ-TV, most recently was a strategic business partner with the Avista Corp. department of corporate communications. Earlier, she was manager of public relations for Packet Engines, which was Bernard Daines’ first Spokane start-up company.

Eagle Publishing, which publishes Inland NW Family Magazine, has added the following people to its staff: Barbara Brown was named executive assistant. Brown, who was previously a trade broker with ITEX in Spokane, will oversee all administrative matters and play a role in community and client relations.

Dawn Driscoll was hired as an account representative. A Washington State University graduate who majored in advertising, Driscoll has 18 years of local sales experience.

Amber Hill joined Family Magazine as graphic designer. She earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts (illustration) from Brigham Young University and spent the last two years as a designer at Neways International, where she had a hand in layout of the corporate magazine, logo design and the packaging designs of products that Neways distributes internationally.

Dr. Arvind Chaudhry has been appointed medical director of the Holy Family Cancer Center, 5719 N. Lidgerwood. Chaudhry received his medical degree from Christian Medical College in Punjab, India. He completed an internship and residency at State University of New York Health Sciences Center and a fellowship at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md. Chaudhry is board certified in internal medicine with a subspecialty certification in oncology.

Robin Worthy has joined G&B Real Estate Services as an occupancy specialist in the residential department. Worthy is a recent graduate of Western Washington University and has obtained a Washington real estate sales person’s license.

eNetwork Capital.com Corp., a business and information technology consulting firm, has hired Melissa Prusch and Justin Smith as marketing executives and Corrinne Springer as executive assistant to the president.

Moving up:

Qwest, formerly US West, has promoted Jeff Rask to voice application sales executive for large business accounts in Eastern Washington. He will be responsible for voice and video application sales to large business and strategic accounts in Eastern Washington. Rask, who has held various technical and service management positions during 29 years with US West, most recently was CPE installation and service manager for Eastern Washington and Idaho.

G&B Real Estate Services has promoted Mystery Couture to community manager at Mount Vernon Terrace. She was previously an occupancy specialist for the company.

Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp. has promoted Jeffrey C. Smith to vice president of operations. Smith was previously vice president and general manager of the company’s Rochester silver mine near Lovelock, Nev. Before joining Coeur in 1998, he spent 11 years with Echo Bay Mines Ltd., including four years as general manager of the McCoy/Cove mine near Battle Mountain, Nev. Smith received a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering from the University of Arizona in Tucson and a master’s degree in management from Stanford University. He is a registered engineer in Nevada. Troy J. Fierro will succeed Smith as general manager of the Rochester mine. He had been Rochester’s technical services manager.

Elected:

Spokane Insurance Associates has elected the following officers and board members for 2000-2001: President, Gina Sharp, Safeco Insurance; vice president, Linda Nardo, Safeco; secretary, Anita Koch, Marsh USA Inc.; treasurer, Jan Fenton, Moloney, O’Neill, Corkery & Jones; one-year board members, Paula Buell and Midge Allen, both Safeco Insurance; and two-year board members, Kristin Noe-Dombrowik, and Kathy Fromont, Marsh Advantage America.

Larry F. Soehren, a partner and director of management services for Kiemle & Hagood Co., has been installed as vice president of the Building Owners and Managers Association International. He served as BOMA/Spokane’s president from 1988-89 and on its board of directors for nine years between 1984 and 1994. He also served as president of the Pacific Northwest region from 1995 to 1997 and has held several committee slots at the international level.

The Spokane Estate Planning Council has elected the following officers for 2000-2001: President, James H. Bockemuehl, Northwestern Mutual Life; vice president, Paul D. Fitzpatrick, Fitzpatrick Law Group P.S.; secretary-treasurer, Renee Grandinetti, McDirmid, Mikkelsen & Secrest P.S.; program chair, Robert Blume, Washington Trust Bank; and membership chair, Carol Neupert, Gonzaga Preparatory School.

Appointed:

Eastern Washington University President Stephen M. Jordan has been appointed by Gov. Gary Locke to the Washington Technology Center’s board of directors. His term expires June 11, 2003. The WTC supports technology development through collaboration between Washington’s universities and private industry.

Kudos:

The International Society of Mine Safety Professionals has honored Dennis E. Wheeler, chairman, president and CEO of Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp., and Ben W. Sheppard, owner/manager of the consulting firm, Ben W. Sheppard & Associates LLC. Wheeler received the society’s “Leadership” award, which is given to a person within the mining industry who is playing a role to improve safety through people. During Wheeler’s tenure at Coeur, the company has received 20 state, national and international awards for its role in environmental and safety stewardship. Sheppard received the society’s “Guardian - Safety Professional of the Decade” award. One of the founders of the International Society of Mine Safety Professionals, Sheppard has been recognized both nationally and internationally for his success in helping companies achieve incident-free workplaces.

Linda Mainvil-Fischer, a pharmacist at Gary’s Drug in Pinehurst, Idaho, has been honored by the Idaho State Pharmacy Association as “Distinguished Young Pharmacist of the Year.” Don Love of McKesson Drug in Spokane was named ISPA “Sales Representative of the Year,” and the “Innovative Pharmacist Award” went to Brian Jorgensen of Medicine Man Pharmacy in Coeur d’Alene. Jack Bishop of Spokane was one of eight pharmacists honored for 50 years of service to the profession.
