Police Identify Body Found In River

From Staff

The woman whose body was found in the Spokane River early Saturday morning has been identified as Rita Coleen Dodd, 51, of Spokane.

Deputies will not know the cause of death until an autopsy is performed today, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Dodd’s body was discovered at about 2:30 a.m. near the Argonne Bridge by a couple living nearby who reported hearing screams from the area of the bridge.

Detectives found a car about a half-block away with a purse believed to belong to Dodd.

There were no apparent signs of foul play, but detectives consider the death suspicious because of the late hour.
