Local Airports Report Increased Activity
Spokane’s airport managers say they handled about 4 percent more passengers and 20 percent more cargo in the first half of 2000 compared with the same period a year ago.
Through June 30, about 1,478,000 passengers flew in or out of Spokane International Airport, said spokesman Todd Woodard.
That’s about 60,000 more commercial passengers than in the first six months of 1999.
Cargo through June 30 this year totaled 35,703 tons, Woodard said. A year ago in the same period, the airport handled 29,676 tons of cargo.
About 53 percent of cargo at the airport is freight, the rest mail.
Felts Field also reported increases in flights and cargo. Woodard said Felts had 37,501 flights this year, 2.9 percent more than the 36,444 flights in the first half of 1999.
Cargo at Felts through June 30 has totaled 246 tons, compared with just 44 tons last year, said Woodard.
