Captive Free To Perform At North Side Churches

The popular performing group Captive Free is in town again and two North Side churches are on the tour this time around. The group of young adults from Minnesota-based Youth Encounter travel the country performing music and drama and sharing personal testimonies.

The group will perform during the 8 and 10:45 a.m. worship services Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2733 W. Northwest Blvd. They will perform again at 7 p.m. Sunday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N. Belt.

All are welcome to attend the performances.

St. Luke the place to be

St. Luke Lutheran Church will host a vacation Bible school session this week. Classes begin Monday and continue through Friday, Aug. 4. Children in preschool through the sixth grade may attend.

The theme of the event is “A Place to Be.” The free classes will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for older students, and from 9 a.m. to noon for preschoolers.

Parents are asked to register their children in advance by calling the church office at 465-4336. The church is located at 9704 N. Division.

Blues concert at Calvary

The Will Derryberry Band will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Chapel, 511 W. Hastings Road. Admission to the blues concert is free, but a free-will offering will be collected.
