Scrimmage Parking, Transit Plan Set
Eastern Washington University officials are asking fans attending Sunday’s EWU/Seahawks Extravaganza and scrimmage to use suggested traffic routes to ease congestion and utilize special bus/trolley services.
The Extravaganza, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the central mall on campus, will feature a variety of games, music, a barbecue and brief speeches by Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren and EWU coach Paul Wulff. The Seahawks’ scrimmage, which packed Woodward Stadium last year, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
The Spokane Transit Authority is offering bus service from its downtown plaza to Cheney, running every 30 minutes between 9:50 a.m. 1:20 p.m. with stops at the Jefferson Street park-and-ride lot en route to Cheney.
Returning buses will leave Eastern’s Pence Union Building every 30 minutes between 2:20 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. Fare will be 75 cents per passenger. Fans driving to Cheney are asked to use Betz Road or Elm Street as they enter town. When parking spots on campus lots become full, police will direct drivers to park along N. 6th Street and in the Cheney Middle School and Cheney High School lots.
From 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., STA trolleys will take passengers to and from their cars along N. 6th Street between Elm Street and Betz Road every 15 minutes. Fare will be 25 cents per person.
