Salary: about $800 per show.
Responsibilities: “At times, take thumbnail sketches or designs from paper towels and render them into three-dimensional sets.”
Favorite pieces: Horse-drawn trolley built for “Hello, Dolly” this season; art deco bar for last year’s production of “Mame.”
Crew: Four paid employees and six volunteers.
Best part of the job: “I really love the whole camaraderie of the actors and the artistic, creative spirit that hangs out here.”
Challenges: Demanding hours. Schuler Auditorium stage designed with little storage in the wings.
Experience: Former boat builder and restorer of Victorian homes. Cooper is currently studying art and anthropology at North Idaho College.
