Searchers Find Missing Woman
After a search involving 30 officers and 30 volunteers, a missing elderly Spokane woman was found safe Thursday evening.
The woman, who has Alzheimer’s disease, was reported missing Thursday afternoon by her husband, Cpl. Jon Strickland said.
The woman refused to get in the car with her husband after a shopping trip and was last seen walking south on Division from Wellesley around noon, Strickland said.
Reserve officers, senior volunteers, Explorer Scouts and Cop Shop volunteers helped Spokane police officers and detectives search for the woman.
A gas station worker at Nevada and Wellesley remembered seeing her and showed police the security video of when she was there. The station is east of Division.
At 6:20 p.m., an officer spotted the woman at Wellesley and Assembly, about 45 blocks west of Division, Strickland said. The woman was taken home.
