Suspect Arrested In Drug Store Robberies
Spokane police arrested a 25-year-old man they say is responsible for a string of armed robberies during April and May.
Oscar Iverson was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday after police raided his apartment on North Atlantic. He is being held in the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of first-degree armed robbery.
Police Sgt. Jerry Frye said Iverson tried to escape out the back of his apartment, injuring his ankle. He was taken to Holy Family Hospital for treatment.
Police said Iverson has carried out five robberies at Walgreens pharmacies and one at a Tidyman’s store. The most recent robbery was Monday.
Frye said Iverson went into Walgreens on South Grand and demanded the prescription pain reliever Hydrocodone. He never asked for money during any of the holdups, Frye said. One Hydrocodone pill can sell for up to $10 on the street, Frye said.
A second suspect is being sought in a robbery that occurred on April 16 at a Walgreens at 6515 North Division. Iverson’s alleged accomplice was described as 5-foot-10, 200 pounds and between the ages of 18 and 22.
