Global Freight Handler Opens Local Office
ABX Logistics, a international freight handler and distributor, has opened a Spokane office. The company has two full-time workers and expects to add more over the next 12 months, said the ABX Northwest manager Frank Engels.
The Spokane office at 10622 E. 27th is managed by Steve Stoeser, ABX’s sales manager for Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana. The second Spokane employee is responsible for customer sales, said Engels, who is based in Seattle.
ABX, with 350 offices worldwide, is considered one of the nation’s top five freight forwarders and cargo distributors. Its U.S. headquarters are in Atlanta.
“We provide a full array of services in the shipping of goods, either by air or by ocean,” Engels said.
That service encompasses organizing documents, arranging transport from seller to buyer, contracting for shipping and warehousing if needed, Engels said.
ABX’s expansion into Eastern Washington reflects a growth in production of key goods in this area.
“Eastern Washington and North Idaho have been seen as areas of opportunity for ABX,” Engels said.
The Spokane office will only be a sales and service center. Over time, ABX intends to search for a Spokane freight storage building, said Engels.
Engels said customers here include Output Technologies and several other area tech firms.
“That list has been growing rapidly,” he added.
