Hewlett-Packard officially completed its spinoff of the electronic testing and measurement equipment business that was the founding technology for the computer and printer company. The spinoff became final Friday with the distribution of 380 million shares of Agilent stock to H-P stockholders.
DaimlerChrysler AG said it is recalling about 474,000 Jeep Cherokees because the air bag control module can corrode from contact with salt water. The recall affects 1997-1999 vehicles.
Lumber giant Boise Cascade Corp. will furlough 550 employees for an average of two weeks because of reduced demand for building materials. The furloughs will be staggered throughout the summer at sawmills in Yakima; White City and LaGrande, Ore., and Cascade, Idaho; as well as a planing and shipping mill in Emmett, Idaho, the company said.
