Valley Churches Offer Vacation Bible School

The end of school is near and with it comes vacation Bible school sessions at Valley churches.

“2000 Ark Avenue - God’s Great Get Together” is the theme of this year’s Bible school at Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway.

Sessions will run daily from 9 and to 11:30 a.m. June 19-23. The final session will be followed by a brief program and lunch for participants.

All children age 4 through the sixth grade may participate. The children will be making crafts, playing games and learning Bible stories.

The cost is $10 per child or $20 per family, and scholarships are available. Children must register by June 11 by calling the church office at 928-7733.

Christ Lutheran is also switching to its summer worship schedule this weekend. One worship service will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month through September. Services will begin at 8:15 and 10 a.m. on all other Sundays through Labor Day.

Tri-parish Bible school

The tri-parish vacation Bible school is scheduled for June 19-23.

The tri-parish includes three neighboring churches: St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Episcopal Church of the Resurrection and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The theme of this year’s event is “Holy Word Adventure,” and classes will run from 9 a.m. to noon daily.

Children in preschool and kindergarten will meet at attend Good Shepherd, 810 S. Sullivan. Children in grades 1-2 will gather at the Episcopal church, 15319 E. Eighth. Children in grades 3-5 will be at St. Mary’s, 304 S. Adams Road.

The cost is $10 per child and advance registration is requested. Call 926-8611 for more information or to register.

Silent auction today

The Veradale United Church of Christ will host a silent auction today from 7 to 9 p.m. Items up for bid include crafts, antiques, gourmet dinners, baked goods and gift certificates from area merchants.

The church is located at 611 N. Progress Road.

Potluck picnic in Mission Park

Opportunity Presbyterian Church will host a potluck picnic in Valley Mission Park at noon Sunday. The church will provide drinks and equipment for sack races, volleyball and other games.

Choir preparing for concert tour

The youth choir of Valley Assembly of God Church will host a parking lot sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Proceeds from the event will help fund the choir’s concert tour this summer. The church is located at 15618 E. Broadway.
