Manito Sale Will Offer Grasses, Herbs
FOR THE RECORD: June 9, 2000: Date wrong: A plant sale at Manito Park for herbs and grasses will be June 17. The date was reported incorrectly in the South Side Voice on Thursday.
A big selection of ornamental grasses and herbs will be on sale this Saturday at a fund-raiser at Manito Park.
New selections of colored grasses and aquatic grasses have been added to this year’s sale, presented by The Friends of Manito organization.
The sale just east of the conservatory begins at 10 a.m., although doors are open to members of the organization at 8 a.m. It ends at 3 p.m.
Both culinary and ornamental herbs are in stock this year. Some of the new selections are orange mint, honeydew sage, rosemary, cardoons, French sorrel and Thai lemon grass.
Money raised in the sale will go for improvements at Manito Park.
To join the organization, call 456-8038. Membership allows early entrance to the popular perennial sale put on by The Friends of Manito. That sale will be Sept. 9.
