Project Joy Cites Miller, Henkle
Project Joy Senior Entertainers recently announced the recipients of its Marian Herzer Award, given annually to a member for outstanding contributions to Project Joy and the Spokane community.
Dorothy Miller and Don Henkle share the honor this year.
A member of the Minstrels and the Puppets of Joy, Miller has been the secretary of the Project Joy Advisory Council for six years and has volunteered as a member of various committees.
Henkle, also a member of the Advisory Council, has been a member of the Project Joy orchestra since 1978 and is also the coordinator of the Brass Quintet, the North Hill Brass Trio and the Chamber Players.
Henkle also won an award for having the most years of service with Project Joy. He’s been a member 18 years.
Project Joy Senior Entertainers make up 41 entertaining groups and perform for care centers, retirement apartments, schools, and civic and fraternal organizations and at special events upon request.
