Sundance Shopping Center Approved
A proposal for a 30-acre shopping center in the Indian Trail neighborhood was approved last week by City Hearing Examiner Greg Smith.
The Sundance Plaza Shopping Center - owned by Sundance Plaza LLC partners Dick Vandervert, Mike Delay, Bob Tombari and Joe Stanek - will be built in two phases west of Indian Trail Road near Barnes Road.
The first phase will consist of a 57,000-square-foot grocery store and 20,000 to 30,000 square feet of mixed retail business, including a restaurant, bank, gas station and pharmacy.
Construction is likely to begin this fall.
The second phase will have another 130,000 square feet of retail business.
More than 1,000 parking stalls will be provided. If space allows, street trees may be required in a planting strip, according to established street tree standards and the Spokane Arterial Street Plan.
LLC partners were also asking for a special permit for three 374-square-foot signs to identify the shopping center at various entry points. Signs that large exceed city regulations.
Smith is allowing LLC partners two identification signs - a 200-square-foot sign on Indian Trail Road and a 150-square-foot sign on Barnes Road.
June 21 is the last day to appeal Smith’s decision.
