Punk band Overridden has been together for about a year, playing local parties and various events at Lake City High School.

The band is comprised of four sophomore guys: Jimmy Magnuson on lead guitar and vocals, Pat Hearn on bass and backup vocals, Mike Tutland on rhythm guitar and Ben Scooly on drums.

Magnuson goes to Gonzaga Prep, Hearn to Lake City, and Tutland and Scooly to Post Falls High School.

Hearn said he’s excited about the upcoming BOBFest performance because the band is “hoping it will be a really good opportunity to get our name out there and get more gigs.”

Magnuson’s motivation is a bit different.

“I’m excited because there’s going to be a lot of chicks,” he said.

The group lists Pennywise and Millencollin as influences on their music.

Most of their material is original, including the songs they’ll be playing at BOBfest. Magnuson writes most of the group’s songs.

The bands goals are big.

“We want to become rock stars, while we’re still in high school, if we can,” Hearn said.

Magnuson agreed, reinforcing his personal motivation.

“We’re hoping to get a record deal,” he said. “I want to work as a lifetime musician.

“And my personal goal is to go watch chicks.”
