100-Hole Golf Marathon Planned At Prairie Course
The Rathdrum Parks and Recreation Department is looking for golfers with some serious endurance skills. The 100-hole Lakeland Golf Marathon will be held July 31 at Prairie Golf Course in Post Falls.
There are only 27 spots available with prizes for the longest drive, hole-in-ones and closest to the pin. The event is to raise funds for the Parks Department. For more information, call Lance Bridges at 681-2399.
Six teams from Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene competed in the first annual Blast on the Beach double elimination volleyball tournament on June 2-3. The team Chips & Cheese comprised of John Jensen, Curtis Dupois, Janet Kennedy and Emily Barrick, all of Coeur d’Alene were the winners. C and C received prizes and pocketed $75 for their efforts.
Ten-year-olds Kyle McCrite and Michelle McCullough of Rathdrum won their events in the 50-yard dash in the local Hershey Track Meet held at Lakeland High School on June 10 to qualify for the state competition held at Coeur d’Alene High School July 24.
McCrite sprinted across the finish line in 7.99 seconds and McCullough crossed in 8.50. Both also were tops in the 100. McCrite had a 17.2 time and McCullough 17.3. Rathdrum’s Angelene Little qualified by finishing second in the 50 and Toarrie Riggs in the 100 (18.2). Riggs won the 200 (37.44) followed by Kayla Kuchenski of Athol (42).
In the 11-12-year-olds bracket, Steve Hanni won the 100 (14.8) and 200 (32.64) in the boys division. Kayla Stiegemeier (15.23) and Lynsie Morris (38.63) both of Rathdrum won the 100 and 200 respectively.
Carissa Kuchenski of Athol won the girls 800 (3:58.5).
Rathdrum’s Samuel Price won the 400 (1:23.02), and Matthew Cox finished first in the 800 (2:37).
In the field events, McCrite won the boys softball toss (97-feet, 5 inches) and Camille Reynolds of Twin Lakes (65) for the girls 9-10 year olds. McCullough won the standing long jump (5-11).
In the 13-year-olds division, Zach Sielaff (14.41) edged Sean McCrite (14.43) and the 200 (29.5 to 30.5). McCrite got revenge in the softball throw 148-8 to 100.
