Driver Arrested, Charged With Forgery
A man accused of signing an alias to several traffic tickets was charged with felony forgery Saturday.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped a red Ford van on Custer Street near Fourth Avenue after the driver failed to signal a turn, and the deputy noticed the front windshield was cracked.
The driver said he didn’t have a license and told the deputy that he had switched the Colorado license plates on the van from another vehicle.
The deputy arrested him for misdemeanor driving without a license and for having illegal license plates. The van was searched and towed.
Later that night, fingerprints taken from the suspect showed that he was using an alias.
Kenneth Delano, 31, a transient, was charged with forgery for allegedly signing another name to the tickets.
