Lakeside Honors Its Tri-Athletes

At Lakeside High School, administrators strive to encourage participation in extracurricular activities.

And in that effort, students who have competed in three sports or earned a letter in three sports during the school year are recognized with a Tri-Athlete Award. A dessert banquet was held June 6.

This is the second year the school has handed out the awards. Those who have earned letters in three sports receive a plaque and those who have played three sports but not earned a letter in all three receive a certificate.

“It’s been good, and it’s going every year,” said athletic director Jim Missel.

Plaque winners were Pat Day, Chad Charbonneau, Cody Brown, Justin Parker, Pat Clocherty, Nathan Hettick, Chris Perkins, Mark Tenny, Jenna Giampietri, Caryn Grubbs, Jaime Tikker, Crystal Jones, Josh Austin, Taryn Erickson and Pat Baugh.

Certificate winners were Greg Smith, Tom Snell, Kayci Parker, Brandon Bowker, Lance Fairbanks, Garrett Schultz, Geoff Penrod, Kendra Colyar, Stephanie Ataide, Richie Pickett, Lance Marquardt, David Hatch, Jacob Jesberger, Jeff Brown, Devin Bauer, Cameron Graves, Matt Peterson, Dan Nagel, Jennifer Nelson and Korri Kirk.

The school’s athletes of the year also were honored during the banquet. Charbonneau earned the male athlete award. He participated in football, wrestling and baseball. The female recipient was Megan Broughton, a volleyball and softball player.
