Letters To The Editor
Thanks, Pete Schweda
Pete Schweda quietly retired recently as a member of the board of directors of West Valley School District.
In his typical understated fashion, he wants to slip quietly away with little fanfare.
Not to be, Pete!
Your 14 years of exemplary service need to be recognized for their contribution to public education in general and West Valley in particular.
I have served with him for every day of those 14 years.
I watched him come on to the board at a time when this district was in severe crisis.
He had been involved in a recall effort of one of our board members and then was elected to serve on the same board with her. What a situation.
He handled it so professionally that it was never an issue.
His integrity, his forthrightness, and his quiet approach to the matter at hand helped to lead us out of those dark days and ultimately to being recognized throughout the state for quality.
Last year, our board was honored as the board of the year for the state school directors association.
On behalf of parents, students and staff, I thank you for your valuable service. Your legacy will remain for years to come. Jim Williams Vice president, West Valley School Board
