Neighborhood Meetings

The Manito/Cannon Hill Neighborhood Council will meet tonight to talk about city park plans to renovate the duck pond area at Manito Park.

The Park Board has asked the city’s neighborhood councils to review options for eliminating through traffic on Tekoa Street and adding new parking near the pond.

The neighborhood meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Wilson Elementary School.

A public information meeting on plans to restore the Corbin and Moore-Turner gardens will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Cataldo Catholic School, 455 W. 18th.

Photographs of the original gardens will be shown along with concepts in a restoration master plan. The gardens were once the private estates of important pioneers for the city.

Public comment is being sought.

The Parks Department and volunteers are trying to raise public awareness and support for bringing the lost gardens back to life.

Ruins of the once grand gardens are located in Pioneer Park adjacent to the Corbin Art Center.
