Community Programs Gain Funds For Service
Spokane Falls Community College and a Cheney learning program will each receive more than $100,000 in federal grant money for youth community service projects.
The money, administered by the Corporation for National Service, will pay for improvements to existing service-learning programs and help create new ones.
Spokane Falls will receive $125,000 to create a service-learning center and integrate service learning into college courses.
The Small Town Mainstreet Community Service Learning Program in Cheney will receive $103,200 to use service-learning to help revitalize small towns.
The grants are among a total of $1.65 million awarded to Washington state programs.
