Lifeguards Save Drowning Boy

Two lifeguards at Hayden Lake’s Honeysuckle Beach helped save the life of a 17-year-old boy Wednesday, according to Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies.

Cyrus Miller, 17, of Spokane, and Courtni Osmun, 18, of Coeur d’Alene, rescued the boy, who apparently had cramps and sank, deputies said.

Miller and Osmun performed CPR after bringing the boy up from 13 feet of water. The boy was submerged for about 30 seconds, but was able to talk when he left the area by ambulance, reports said.
