Cat Stuck In Tree For Nine Days Rescued By Tree Trimmer Bill

Hope, the Browne’s Addition cat stuck in a tree for nine days, was rescued Friday.

The orange cat is a good deal thinner than before, said Christopher O’Clair, but otherwise just fine. Hope was busy eating and drinking water, he said.

The plight of the cat was discussed on the Jay and Kevin show on Cat Country radio Friday morning. The deejays asked listeners for ideas on how to rescue the feline.

Before O’Clair knew it, a tree trimmer named Bill was scaling the six-story maple tree and bringing Hope down to Earth.

“I just watched him climb right up there. I was pretty amazed,” O’Clair said.

Unfortunately, O’Clair didn’t get Bill the tree trimmer’s last name. Afternoon employees at Cat Country didn’t know either. Firefighters earlier tried twice to rescue the cat, but couldn’t get close enough. A friend of O’Clair’s who climbs utility poles couldn’t reach him either.

But Bill, on the 10th day of Hope’s sit-in, was able to make the save. O’Clair said he is grateful for Bill’s help. Many people called O’Clair Friday to check on the cat and he was able to report the good news.

Now safely back home, Hope has a story to tell.

“He’s been a little bit verbal,” O’Clair said.
