Sunshine Session Set

From Staff

Sunshine Mining and Refining Co. will meet with creditors next week in an effort to hammer out a restructuring plan.

Sunshine has met monthly with bondholders since March, when it was unable to make a $27 million bond payment. At a meeting Friday, bondholders agreed to extend the due date until the next scheduled meeting June 30.

The bondholders have extended the payment deadline periodically to give time to negotiate an agreement.

Sunshine is hoping to avoid a Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company employs about 260 workers at the Sunshine Mine near Kellogg, Idaho.
