Mechanical Failure Blamed For Fatal Crash
Mechanical failure is blamed in the death of an Enumclaw man in a high-speed crash during an annual vintage car show.
Police suspect Richard E. Graham lost control of his souped-up 1932 Ford coupe after a throttle jammed in the open position late Saturday. Graham was thrown from the car and died at the scene.
The car was traveling at about 150 miles an hour. It appeared Graham turned off the ignition to try to slow the car, then lost control when the steering wheel locked up, Sgt. Chris Vowels of the Richland police said.
