Road Rage Leads To Man’S Arrest Two Hurt When Station Wagon Rams Into Them In Reverse
A Deer Park man was arrested on felony assault charges following a “road rage incident” on Tuesday night, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s office.
Robert W. Greiff, 32, was booked into Spokane County Jail on two second-degree assault charges, according to Sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan.
Sheriff’s investigators gave the following account: Greiff was driving his Mercury Lynx station wagon west on Farwell Road from Mead.
The assault victims were in a second vehicle that was closely following Greiff’s car.
The victims told deputies that Greiff pulled alongside their car, rolled down his window and ordered them into an Albertson’s lot at Highway 395 and Hastings Road.
The victims were going to Albertson’s anyway and pulled in and parked.
The five victims exited the car. As they stood in the lot, Greiff suddenly accelerated his station wagon backward at the group. Two of the victims, a 19-year-old male and 18-year-old female, were unable to move away in time. The car struck the female on the right leg, knocking her to the pavement.
The car pulled forward, then accelerated in reverse a second time. The male victim was struck, causing his hands to go through and shatter the car’s rear window. At the same time, his head struck the upper edge of the window frame. The victim suffered cuts that required stitches.
The victims provided the driver’s description and license plate. Deputies contracted Greiff and arrested him on the two felony charges.
A second-degree driving while license suspended charge is also pending.
