The Vikings handled the Red Devils’ red-hot first half (16 of 28) with a 40-40 tie then shot 52 percent in the second half to finish at 50 percent. Neah Bay cooled off to 36 percent (12 for 33) in the second half. In a little less than the first 5 minutes of the fourth quarter, Gar-Pal went on a 19-1 run, missing its first shot and last. In between, the Vikings made their three field goals and 12 of 16 free throws while the Red Devils were 0 for 4 with six turnovers. Jeremy Kimball, who pumped in 38 points, started the run with two foul shots and ended it with a 3-pointer.

Josh Whitman was unstoppable, scoring 31 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. The 6-1 junior also hit all 10 of his free throws as the Broncos were 18 for 18 at the line and had a game-high four steals. Brett Pflugrath hit three 3s late in the third quarter to break it open. Jason Heider was scoreless on eight shots but had eight assists. Brian Cochran, a 6-4 junior, had 22 points for the Mules, and Toby Bell had 10 rebounds.

The Rangers trailed by one entering the fourth quarter and hit just one of their first 11 shots to fall behind by 10, 49-39. Tyler Grenard, who finished with 17 points, had a 3, a baseline jumper, two foul shots and an assist in the 12-3 run. Quilcene was 3 for 18 in the final 8 minutes. Kellen Biggar had 11 points and 18 rebounds for Waterville, and Josh Barns had 21 points, hitting all nine free throws as the defending state champion Shockers went 17 for 20.

The Panthers eased to a 10-point halftime lead and then Brent Decker scored eight points in the first 90 seconds of the third quarter to break it open. VC shot 54 percent for the game (27 for 50) and hit 14 of 19 free throws. Decker had 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Mossyrock, which shot only 30 percent in the second half (6-20) and 35 percent for the game (14-40), had 20 turnovers.

Bush junior forward Henry Greeley bounced in a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left in overtime to give the Blazers an upset win. Pateros forced OT with Mark Stennes’ reverse layup with 1 second left. … Pateros starting forward Kevin Stennes (7.5 ppg) didn’t play because of the flu.

Jeremy Groth scored five points in OT after missing a 3-point attempt in the final seconds of regulation.
“We didn’t expect it to be this wild,” Groth said. “They have a great freshman kid (Lance Den Boer, with 23 points), a great player.”
Curlew’s Craig Groth, who shoots nearly 90 percent from the line, missed two free throws with 23.6 seconds left in OT and the score 66-64. But the Cougars forced a turnover on SC’s final offensive sequence.
SC lost starting center David Dekker (8.7 ppg) late in the first half with suspected broken bones in his right leg.
