Nurses, Faculty Offer Health Information

From Staff

More than 50 nursing students and faculty will provide blood pressure checks, health tips and information about Washington’s Basic Health Insurance program today at area Tidyman’s stores.

The students, from the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education/WSU College of Nursing, are promoting “Health is Everything,” a health and beauty supply drive for patients at the center’s clinic at the Spokane YWCA.

The nurses and faculty will be selling bags filled with health and medical supplies for low-income and underinsured patients of the clinic. The bags cost $4.99. The supply drive helps support the basic health and medicinal needs of patients visiting the clinic. The clinic provides community outreach for Spokane County’s 65,000 residents who lack access to health care. The clinic serves children, families, the working uninsured, low-income and homeless people.

Items will continue to be collected at all area Tidyman’s stores through the end of March. Look for the posters near the health and beauty shelves.

Nurses and faculty will be at the six Spokane stores from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for blood pressure checks and to answer questions.
