Wilbur’S James Pyle Serves As Legislative Page

James Pyle of Wilbur, Wash., served as a legislative page in the Washington state House of Representatives for a week in February. Pyle was sponsored by state Rep. Cathy McMorris, R-Colville, Wash.

Pyle, 14, is the son of Julie and Patrick Pyle of Wilbur.

He plays football, baseball and wrestles for the Wilbur/Creston athletic district. He is a freshman at Creston High School.

Curt Collyer, a freshman at Gonzaga Prep tied for first place in the Washington High School Chess championship held recently in Lynnwood, Wash.

John Julian, a junior at Central Valley High School finished fourth.

The Post Falls Rotary has chosen Bonnie Miles, a student at University of Idaho, as the February Rotary Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Ruth and Rick Miles. She was a UI Top Scholar in 1999.

Miles has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years and a member of Idaho Drug-Free Youth. She has participated in track and field for two years and was on the varsity cross country team. Miles also participates in drama and was secretary of the drama club for two years.

The Coeur d’Alene Rotary recently recognized two area students for their commitment to academic success. Students and their achievements are listed.

Corey Pataky, an eighth-grader at Lakes Middle School, maintains a 4.0 grade-point average and is enrolled in honors social studies.

Pataky, son of James and Bobbi Pataky of Coeur d’Alene, was commended for his enthusiasm and integrity. He participates in jazz and concert band. He also plays the piano and is an accomplished artist.

Ana Mack, a senior and class valedictorian at Lake City High School, maintains a 4.0 gpa and is dual-enrolled at North Idaho College.

She is a member of DECA, Renaissance and the LCHS Swim Team. She has served as historian and executive board member of the National Honor Society and was named an Idaho Top Scholar. She has earned four letters in swimming and also received academic letters.

She is the daughter of Don and Terry Mack of Post Falls, and plans to attend the University of Montana and pursue a pharmacy degree.
