Spokane police are looking for a man who failed to appear in court Monday to respond to a charge of rioting.

Michael J. Bailey, 27, was arrested Oct. 30 on suspicion of interfering with an officer and refusing to show his hands. He struck an officer in the face when he was taken into custody, according to police reports.

Officers responded to calls that dozens of people had gathered along West Pacific at 1 a.m.

When they arrived, officers said they found more than 50 people gathered and at least six fights under way. When the officers resorted to pepper spray to break up the fights, most people left the area, according to police spokesman Dick Cottam.
