Living Meorials

George Washington’s tulip poplars, Andrew Jackson’s magnolia tree, pictured above, and the sugar maple that grew outside the home of Amelia Earhart will be reborn in groves of historic trees around the United States as part of a White House millennium project. Plans for a grove in Washington were made public Wedneseday. Deputy Agriculture Secretary Richard E. Eominger said that 37 states and territories have pledged to plant similar groves.
