Athol Snowmobiler Dies In Avalanche

An Athol, Idaho, snowmobiler died Sunday afternoon when he was buried in an avalanche near Roman Nose Lake, the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office said.

Royal Robert Armbrust, 39, was found by members of his snowmobiling party within 13 minutes of the avalanche, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, deputies said.

Armbrust was wearing a transceiver-receiver beacon, deputies said.
