New Mail Option Will Eat Spam

Back in the days when Spam was just an often ridiculed meat product, there was little need for a mechanism to weed out unsolicited e-mail.

But now that in-boxes often overflow with unwanted electronic mail, there’s a push to deal with it.

One approach, recently introduced by Hotmail, is a “bulk mail” option that allows users to automatically sift through and shift unsolicited e-mail to a folder where it’s deleted after 30 days.

* Need for speed: The newest hot rods in the computer world will be sporting chips that operate at one gigahertz, or a billion cycles per second.

On paper, at least, that’s as much as 25 percent faster than the previous top machines.

Unless you’re a hard-core enthusiast who plays lots of computer games, you can probably afford to wait rather than shell out $3,000 to $6,000 for one of these PCs.
