Woman Arrested On Meth Charge

A 36-year-old woman was arrested Saturday afternoon when sheriff’s deputies discovered a suspected methamphetamine laboratory in her Spokane Valley home, said spokesman Dave Reagan.

Renea L. Heinz was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and booked into Spokane County Jail, Reagan said.

Deputies found the alleged methmaking operation after a neighbor complained to deputies about a strong chemical odor coming from the house at 13510 E. Fourth Ave., Reagan said.

Deputies first talked to a woman living in an upstairs apartment at the house before deciding the smell was coming from downstairs.

Heinz allowed deputies into her apartment, where they saw crack and marijuana pipes, Reagan said. Deputies then called for drug detectives, who found the suspected meth lab, he said.

Deputies sealed off the house and will continue guarding it until today, when the Washington State Patrol’s Special Incident Response Team will remove the hazardous materials, Reagan said.

Deputies still are looking for Heinz’s 32-year-old male roommate, who Reagan declined to name.
