Philosophy Conference Set For This Weekend

The third annual Inland Northwest Philosophy Conference is set for this weekend.

Jointly sponsored by Washington State University and University of Idaho, the conference, themed “Truth and Meaning,” features philosophers from all over the world. The keynote address, “Meanings,” will be delivered by New York University professor Stephen Schiffer on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the UI Law School Courtroom.

On Friday, a panel of experts in rhetoric, history, philosophy, religious studies and physics will discuss “Is Truth an Illusion?” at the Moscow Community Center starting at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday, a workshop titled “Issues in Linguistic Explanation: Semantics and Pragmatics,” begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Bundy Reading Room in WSU’s Avery Hall.
