Tip Leads Pullman Police To Arrest Man

From Staff

Pullman police arrested a 24-year-old Pullman man Tuesday morning in connection with the armed robbery of a convenience store Monday night.

Authorities received a tip from a resident who heard a description of the man on a local radio station after police issued a press release describing his race, weight, height and clothing.

Gregory J. Castro was arrested at 8:50 a.m. near an auto repair shop on the Palouse Highway, just north of Pullman. He offered no resistance. He will be charged with robbery in the first degree, a felony.

A clerk at the Checkpoint Super Center on Bishop Boulevard called police Monday night after a man with a three-inch knife went behind the counter and demanded money. Police recovered a bicycle behind the store that may have belonged to him, as well as a backpack containing camouflage clothing and a MIA-POW hat they believe he dropped.
