Spotlight: Pickup Soccer
The Spokane Valley Junior Soccer Association has created a coed pickup soccer league for teenagers.
Jack McPeck, coaches’ representative for the association, said the league provides something new for Spokane Valley teens.
“Too many teenagers find that they have nowhere to play soccer after they are 14,” said McPeck. “We are providing a way for them to have fun again playing soccer in a safe and supervised setting, while still being free to meet their other obligations the rest of the week.”
Registered teens will meet on Saturday afternoons during April and May for a pickup game between two coed teams that are chosen just before the game. There are no regular teams or coaches and no practices during the week.
The recreational league is open to teens 15 to 18 years old who do not play in an organized soccer league. Games begin the first Saturday in April.
